"I don't want to see any frustrated backyard heroes trying to dominate the day and turn this into a win at all costs event! Life's too busy, we're all stressed at work, so I've devised a set of rules that will make this an enjoyable, memorable day for all of us, irrespective of our abilities. You'll notice I've kept the bowling run ups nice and short also - who wants to run in off a long run! What was I thinking all those years ago. This is an abbreviated and easy to follow set of rules that will apply for the day. And if anyone complains or tries to bend them - you'll have to front up to me - or worse than that - Rodney Hogg!" MERV'S HAVE A CRACK DAY RULES OVERVIEW
1. All teams will play three round robin matches
2. Each team bats and bowls eight overs
3. Players bat in pairs for two overs, irrespective of the number of times they are dismissed
4. Eight bowlers bowl one six ball over each. Wides and no-balls are not re-bowled
5. Run-ups limited to a maximum of six metres
6. Maximum of eight fielders on the ground at one time, with substitutions allowed
7. Runs are scored using the normal rules of cricket
8. Each wicket the bowling team takes earns them a bonus five runs
9. In the event of a tied game the result will be determined by a bowl off
10. If you don't have your best ever day at the cricket, you won't be invited back next year
"You'd have to agree, these rules make Merv's Have A Crack Day accessible for anyone. So come on, register a team now and join me and a host of other cricket, sporting and entertainment stars for a day out. We'll make it a Xmas party to remember!" Merv
